Abstract:

"i.plot" investigates the future of narrative by studying the hidden relationships and contextual emergence of language. "ZENetic" is an interface that evokes self-awakening through essential aspects of Zen Buddhist culture. Through esoteric riddles, ZENetic teases particular cognitive responses from users, as reflections of their inner, subliminal consciousness. "Hitch Haiku" condenses an essence of a book into a Haiku, a Japanese minimal poem form. An user chooses arbitrary phrases from a chapter of a famous Japanese essay called "1000 Books and 1000 Nights," which introduces 1000 books covering many genres all over the world. Then the system generates a Haiku by using the corpus of the essay and several databases dedicated for Haiku generation, then transfers it into English. Thus even foreigners can catch the essence of the book.
