Topic

The workshop will consist of an interactive session, a kind of jamming session in simulation starting with a brief introduction about the software package in which the essential skills are taught. Participants are encouraged to individually prepare a simulation problem that is preferably from their own production environment or background. These simulation problems of the participant will be modeled individually with collaboration of the teacher. The assumption is that this individual approach is the best and fastest way to learn all aspects of simulation and these are: building a model, verifying and validating a model and the analysis and reporting of results.

Curriculum Vitae

Kurt De Cock is employee at the Department of 'Industrial Management' of Ghent University since 2005. Since then, he contributed in several research and service projects including for Curver, Nike and Volvo. In 2007 the department bought the simulation software 'Flexsim' and Kurt De Cock was qualified as 'technology owner' for the department. This means that he is the main contact person about Flexsim for students, doctoral students and researchers. Since the academic year 2011-2012 he teaches the practical part of the simulation course (with Flexsim) in the master degree for civil engineers.
